Help with Home Schooling:
North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education This site is hosted by the state of North Carolina and answers many questions including: requirements, recommendations, and reminders for home schooling. It also tells you where to send for your home schooling packet (under the "requirements section").
North Carolinians for Home Education (NCHE) This is a great site for those wanting to learn more about home schooling and for getting started in home schooling in North Carolina. You should definitely join this organization and attend their annual Home School Conference in May.
This is another good organization to join. They will provide legal assistance if your home school becomes jeopardized by state interference.
GIFTSNC - For those home schooling children with learning challenges GIFTSNC is a special place for parents who homeschool one or more children with physical, developmental, medical, communication or learning challenges. GIFTSNC is the place to discuss and exchange ideas regarding: curriculum choices and modifications, medical and therapy issues, providing social opportunities and so much more. GIFTSNC is a place where we can support each other as we work to meet the daily challenges of rearing, guiding and teaching all our children. A brief, family bio is required and will be requested on all pending memberships. This bio will also be used as an introduction to the group.
Support in the area:
Spice-Line: The number one place to get support from your fellow home schoolers and to find out what is going on where! Spice-line is a fully moderated, Christian based loop which, for 6 years, has provided information and encouragement to home schooling families in the Triangle area and surrounding counties of NC.
