History and Philosophy

Dayspring was begun in the school year of 1995-1996 by a small group of homeschoolers in the Raleigh area who believed that all homeschoolers need and deserve support in their homeschooling endeavor. The group blossomed inĀ its first year to include over 40 homeschooling families and is continuing to grow. Dayspring is a Christian organization governed by Christian principles. Dayspring is open to everyone who homeschools regardless of religion as long as they can respect and defer to the policies and principles set by the Board.

The purpose of Dayspring is to offer support, encouragement and information to homeschooling families.

Activities and Meetings

Dayspring offers a variety of activities, special events and field trips to its members:
Science Fair
Spelling Bee
Night of the Arts
International Fair
Used Curriculum Sale
Homeschool 101 Workshop
Monthly Parent Meetings
Park Days
Kick-off, Christmas and Valentine parties
Promotion/Graduation Night
Many, many field trips
Lending Library

While most activities are appropriate for preschoolers to high schoolers, Dayspring does offer a Teen activity group as well as a Tween (approximately middle school age) activity group.

Parent meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00p.m. at White Plains Methodist Church. Each meeting addresses a topic pertaining to homeschooling. Occasionally, there is a guest speaker. More info.
